Photo gift

There are endless ideas for photo gifts out there, but sometimes you just need help getting the project organized. This plan is for you if you’d like to keep the options open for several ideas, but need some help getting organized.
A few ideas of things you could work on with this project:

*All activities with a * require a FamilySearch account to participate in that activity.

If you don’t have one please set one up with a tree or find another activity for that day.

Be sure to take the pre experiment survey before you start and come back and complete the post experiment survey when you are done.

Day 1

Pick a Theme

Determine what kind of pictures you want to gather? Photos of your immediate family? Photos of your extended family? Photos all about your traditions? Make a list of who else may have pictures related to the categories you choose to organize, who you can reach out to? 

Day 2

Reach Out to Family

Reach out to the people from day 1 and ask them to share their photos.

(Example: Hi, Aunt Judy! I am collecting family photos from for a family history project. I wondered if you have any pictures or any written in her handwriting? I’d also love it if you could share any memories you or traditions you remember! If you could get them back to me by (date) that would be great! Thank you!)

Gather Your Photos

Gather your own photos and begin organizing them into categories. (ie: by family member, by year, by month, etc.)

Day 4

Continue Organizing

Use today to get all of your photos organized and add any new photos you’ve received from family.

Day 5

Determine Your First Project

Determine what you want your final project to be (a scrapbook, photo album, photo book, digitized album, etc.). Consider how you want to share the gift and who you want to share it with. Make a plan and list of supplies.

Gather Supplies

Gather any supplies necessary for completing the project.
